Findlay leaders officially welcomed Sheetz, Inc. to the community at a media event in June as construction continues on schedule for the opening of its food preparation and distribution facility, slated for 2026.
Sheetz is a family-owned business headquartered in Altoona, PA currently building the $169 million, more than 500,000 square foot food preparation and distribution facility at the Northwest corner of Hancock County roads 212 and 230, in the County Road 99 corridor.
Speaking at the event, Travis Sheetz, CEO and president, said he is looking forward to construction being completed. The new facility will, in time, employ more than 700 people. Tim Derickson, managing director for food processing and agribusiness for JobsOhio, celebrated that the Sheetz facility is a record in the history of Ohio in the food and agriculture sector for the number of employees.
Matt Gilroy, director of strategic initiatives for Findlay Hancock County Economic Development, welcomed Sheetz to the community, reminding company leaders that the FHCED office is here to help through construction, hiring, and far into the future as a community partner. Other speakers welcoming Sheetz included Ohio Treasurer of State Robert Sprague and Findlay Mayor Christina Muryn. Speakers celebrated the combined efforts of those above and included the Findlay Hancock County Chamber of Commerce, Regional Growth Partnership, the Ohio Department of Development, and the Hancock County Commissioners, in making the project a reality.
Sheetz generously awarded a $10,000 check to both The Alliance and non-profit Habitat for Humanity in support of the community. Some Sheetz employees have already volunteered to help build Habitat for Humanity homes. Sheetz is known for its positive company culture and is also building two convenience store / gas stations in Findlay.
