The Facility Employs More than 250 People Now; 450 More on the Horizon
When Sheetz selected Findlay for its new state-of-the-art $169 million distribution and food preparation center, leadership saw a positive community centrally based within their strategic plan—and one with an ample employee base. The center has already employed more than 250 people, and over the course of about five years, that number will grow to 700.
Attended by about 100 local and state officials, community members, and employees, Sheetz held a ribbon cutting ceremony Tuesday to celebrate the opening of the new 512,000-square-foot distribution center. The center—located at 5900 Township Road 230— houses food production; distribution; offices; a cozy cafeteria; a “Shwellness” center for employees complete with a workout facility, saunas, massage chairs, and a medical care center; and more. Attendees were also treated to a Sheetz lunch and extensive tour of the facility.
“This is the perfect location for us, being here in Northwest Ohio,” said Travis Sheetz, president and CEO of the company. “And in the Findlay and Hancock County area we saw a good employee base. We wouldn’t build anywhere that we didn’t feel good about that. …We’re going to be here a long time, and not just here in the facility, we’re going to be out in the community, and we’re excited to move forward. This is huge day for Sheetz, a five-year project, and we’re really excited about it—so thank you.”
The Findlay Sheetz distribution center is the second largest of Sheetz’s three distribution facilities, with the others located in Claysburg, PA and Burlington, NC. Sheetz, Inc. was founded in 1952 in Altoona, PA and is headquartered there. Sheetz’s convenience store-gas stations tout a Made-to-Order fast-food menu, bakery items, specialty coffees, ice cream, and “everything you need.” Sheetz operates more than 860 stores in seven states and employs more than 24,000 people. Indiana will soon be added as their eighth state. The company has been recognized for an employee-oriented environment and community advocacy.
The facility will produce 75 to 80 percent of the products sold at Sheetz stores – sandwiches, salads, subs, pizza, and fresh bakery items like donuts and cookies. Distribution partners will bring the rest of the items (for example Pepsi drinks or Coke products) to the distribution center to be stocked and as the need arises, distributed to the stores.

Matt Gilroy of FHCED stands with Chase Eikenbary of Regional Growth Partnership and Tim Derickson of JobsOhio at the event.
“Welcoming Sheetz’s distribution center to Findlay marks the beginning of a lasting partnership, one we look forward to growing through opportunities for our workforce and a shared commitment to Hancock County’s future,” Hite said.
Findlay Mayor Christina Muryn began her piece of the ceremony by asking all Sheetz employees to raise a hand, then welcomed them to the Findlay community.
“…one of the things we’re really proud of in Findlay is that when you pick us, we become part of your team, too,” she said. “…We are really proud to be part of the Sheetz story and being able to bring great jobs to our community. We are excited to continue to see this integrate and grow—with that growth in your team, your success is our success. On behalf of the City of Findlay and our community, thank you for choosing Findlay—we’re really excited about what is to come.”
As part of the ribbon cutting event, Sheetz awarded $10,000 to West Ohio Food Bank, which serves Hancock County, fittingly on Hunger Action Day. Granger Construction Company, Columbus, and Pennsylvania company PJ Dick, completed the construction. Additional contractors from Hancock County worked on the project, including Hancock Structural Steel. The project was Hancock Steel’s largest project to date at the time, requiring more than 1,400 tons of steel. Construction on the distribution center began in October of 2024 and it will go live on Oct. 11.
Jobs are still available— stop in at Sheetz and ask for an application, or visit the Sheetz website to learn more.
In addition to the distribution center, Sheetz opened two convenience store-gas stations in Findlay in 2025— one at 1880 Tiffin Ave., and the other at 12100 CR 99, which includes a carwash.

Local leaders and Sheetz employees celebrate the opening of Sheetz’ new distribution center in Findlay. Malcolm Robinson, director of operations for the facility, is a Fostoria native and cut the ribbon. Travis Sheetz, president and CEO of Sheetz, Findlay Mayor Christina Muryn, and Matt Gilroy, executive director for FHCED also lined up to celebrate.
